Electricity and Magnetism Questions?!?

I have a test tomorrow and I had a few questions on the review! Please help :) You don’t have to answer all….but it would be appreciated ;)
*Which of the following is the reason "soft" iron is used for the cores of electromagnets?
a. difficult to magnetize
b. easily magnetized
c. has no magnetic domains
d. permanent magnet

*In an electric motor, periodically changing the direction of current in the electromagnet can cause the axle to spin because
a. electromagnet loses magnetism
b. mechanical energy is converted to electric energy
c. moving electrons push the electromagnet in opposite direction
d. magnetic field reverses direction

* How can the voltage in a coil of wire be increased in the process of electromagnetic induction?
a. move magnet inside the coil of wire more slowly.
b. hold magnet stationary
c. move coil of wire slowly, and keep magnet stationary
d. move magnet inside the coil of wire more rapidly

* The process of generating an electric current by moving an electrical conductor relative to a magnetic field is called:
a. magnetization
b. electromagnetic force
c. electromagnetic induction
d. alternating current

* How are fossil fuels used to generate electrical energy?
a. heat from burning fuel spins magnets inside an electrical motor
b. heat from burning fuel creates steam that spins a turbine
c. heat from burning fuel causes an electric motor to produce a current
d. heat from burning fuel creates steam that turns a transformer

Thanks so much!! Again, you don’t have to answer all…and these are only the one’s i didn’t understand! Please help :)

Magnets!!?

How does an electromagent and other magents generate electricity?

How do we use electromagnets in our everyday lives?

is it possible to produce electricity from magnets?

They say that it is possible to create magnets with the use electricity, which is then called electromagnets. Now, can we reverse the process?

Is it possible to make a magnetic levitation device without using Liquid Nitrogen?

I want to make a levitation device. All I found on the net is using a superconductor and liquid nitrogen to levitate a magnet. but I want to make a levitation device using electricity or electromagnets. Is it possible to do so? Please I really want to build one.

How do you NEUTRALIZE a magnetic field from a permanent magnet?

I want to temporarily NEUTRALIZE (not demagnetize) a magnetic field from a permanent magnet.

Basically I want the magnet to work normally until I want to turn it "off" or "neutralize" it. No electricity can be used to power it on, so that means no electromagnets. Electricity may be used to power it off though.
LoL I am not making a perpetual motion machine. I know enough about physics to know that’s impossibe…well for now anyways heh.

Magnetic Forces and Electricity?

If two normal ferrite magnets of different sizes both have a 10 watt electric current put through them to make them electromagnets which would be more powerful (have greater magnetic strength) A or B?

A is 1 inch square with 10 watts put through it.
B is 2 inch square with 10 watts put through it.
Im talking about electro-permanent magnets by the way.

physics geniuses please help: In the generation of electricity is permanant magnetic material neccessary?

That is I know induction is the cutting of magnetic field lines with a coil of wires, but the plants don’t use iron lodestone like the examples in textbooks do they?

They must use electromagnets. But then the question is how does the current from the electromagnet originate? I suppose you could use a battery?

In a nutshell, please answer the following questions.

1) Is permanant magnet material neccessary to generate electric current?
2) is permanant magnetic material present in the generators one would buy from home depot or something?
3) and do coal powered power plants use permanant magnets to form the current that runs the electromagnets that spin within the massive generators?

When was electricity first invented, AC or DC doesnt matter?

I just care when the first battery was made, how was it made, if it wasnt a battery, what was it, energy needs to come from somewhere, where did it come from. Who is the first person that harvested this energy, if it was done with electromagnets, where did the electrons to make that magnet come from.

How can I float a ball a minimum of 1" above a surface without the use of electricity?

I’ve been trying to figure out a creative way to float a ball some resonable height (1" or greater) without the use of electricty for electromagnets or for an air stream. I’m stumped. Playing with super magnets, but can’t get the height I want. Any ideas?

Is it possible to make a motor that runs only on magnets?

I know in a typical electric motor, electromagnets are attached to the axle/rotating thing and magnets are pasted on the sides of the cylinder. Electricity drives the electromagnet, and it spins due to the same polarity it has with the magnets on the walls, causing the axle to rotate. My question is why can’t we use normal magnets instead of electromagnets? Replacing the electromagnets with normal magnets of the same polarity shouldn’t affect the whole mechanism, or would it? If it would, how? I want some professional answers please, not just a random person’s theory.
